What I like:

  • To be an ang moh : Most of Singaporian are Chinese Singaporean so you feel special and different! That's great!
  • Cheap prices for food, electronic stuff, cinema, nightclub and so on
  • If you want to go shopping, that's the place!
  • AC everywhere!!! Great after walking under their hot Sun!!!
  • Channel 8 : everything is in Chinese so I couldn't undertand anything... Great for laughing!
  • their subway : MRT! very modern and clean!
  • English is widely spoken so you cannot get lost! It is also better to speak Mandarin!!!
  • Loof bar in Odeon towers
  • Their buildings with many different colours.

What I don't like

  • Singaporian accent is sometimes hard to understand...
  • Be careful when you bargain there.. If you are an Ang Moh, Prices will rise quickly!!
  • To be an Ang Moh : you feel foreigner when you are the only white man in a hawker centre...
  • Lorong 17 Geylang: if you want to meet some prostitutes, please go there!
  • The color of the sea at East Coast Park : greeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!

That's all for today!

LOL! Look no further Charles! Go to japan! They are famous for Ladies mud wrestlings! The ladies will be wrestling in bikinis! Woah! Singlish can be cool, depending on how you use it, and the extend of which it's being stretched. If you're looking at the mild singlish we use among our friend, it's perfectly fine! We don't sound crude! It's just that, not many people (especially the native speakers) could appreaciate the beauty of singlish.

Lin > you sound quite defensive about your country! of course someone who visits a completely different culture/language for the first time will have trouble understanding the people. and everyone is going to have their likes and dislikes about the place. i think singapore is a wonderful place. only, singlish accents are a bit rough and slightly crude-sounding... at least when spoken by uni students.

Bonjour Hui, I think we've met before, not sure if you remember. I think we were classmates in Christoph's Monday writting class... Unfortunately, the class only lasted for one term... Yeah, instead of worrying, like what our educators and governments felt, I'm totally proud of our unique langugage! So much so of employing "native enlish speaker" teachers in primary school. I guess nothing will change, unless there's a massive influence in our culture, i.e. we switching to communist. LOL
